The following is an excerpt from “Visit to Pakistan” by Soviet writer Suvonnoff, translated from the English version of “Soviet Literature” on the 12th of 1950. The author participated in a delegation of Soviet writers who visited Pakistan in the second half of 1949 at the invitation of the Association of Pakistan’s Progressive Writers and participated in a rally of progressive writers and journalists in Pakistan. This article records what he saw and heard about his trip, and here the translator only extracted a part of it about the life of the Pakistani people. From this article we can see how the Pakistani people are suffering under the squeeze of the Anglo-American imperialists and the reactionary rulers and see that they have to learn the example of China to liberate themselves. Pakistan is a Muslim country split off from India. The main territory is in northwestern India. Another part is in northeastern India, covering an area of about 350,000 square miles and a population of about 75 million. After the country declared independence and became the British self-governing power, the political, economic and military real power was still beyond the grasp of the imperialists. The Governor of this Dominion is Sir Nassimudin and the Prime Minister is Ali Khan.
