In late May, Hong Kong Christie’s auctioned in full bloom in spring 2013, of which the Asian contemporary art sector hit a new high as one of the main sectors. Following the gain of HK $ 460 million last Autumn Auction, the 700 pieces launched this year are chasing another high with a total turnover of more than HK $ 750 million. This undoubtedly injects a “boost” into the contemporary art market in Asia. However, in May and June, the total turnover of China’s Guardian, China Oil Painting and Sculpture, Beijing Poly, and Contemporary Chinese Night of Arts, respectively, more than doubled in volume. Following the fall of the art market in China in the fall of 2011, the trend of rational pick-up in the spring auction of the first round of spring auctions in Hong Kong and the 20th anniversary of China Guardian shows a trend of rational recovery. The auction of Hong Kong Christie’s and Beijing Poly just concluded further clarified the market Confidence and direction.
