第一次访韩国,其时的她刚从金融风暴的阴霾中走出来,千方百计要将欠下的外债偿还。那时候,我只觉得仍然未易名为首尔的首都汉城,既有点点东京大城市的影子,却又弥漫着类近于台北紊乱无序的气息——是的,长久以来,韩国都徘徊在中日两种文化之间,寻找自己的定位。隔了许多时日,今趟再度前往韩国,首尔市区那每时每刻都挤得没完没了的车龙,已经告诉你,她早就不再一样。而当我们分别探访过接近朝韩边境地区、由逾300个艺术家及创作人自资自发建立起来的艺术社区Heyri Art Valley,以及首尔市内一个邀来Mario Botta、Jean Nouvel和Rem Koolhaas 3位欧洲建筑大师所设计的私人博物馆Leeum Samsung Museum of Art之后,更加感受到,韩国人的今非昔比,绝非新发财式或无根的刹那灿烂。在渴望与国际交流接轨的同时,他们亦从自身的历史和传统出发,配合长远的目光视野,以及集体式团结意志,苦心经营他们心目中的理想家园。早已经跻身国际、并成为亚洲焦点的釜山电影节如是,像Heyri Art Valley和Leeum Samsung Museum of Art这两个艺术领域,又何尝例外?首尔既不是东京,也不是台北,更不是香港、北京或上海……她要做的,就是首尔自己。
