《日出》是戏剧文学大师曹禺继《雷雨》之后奉献给中国戏剧文坛的又一杰作,与《雷雨》不同的是,曹禺在此不再追求精巧的结构,而注重展现日常生活,“也即将关注与表现的重心由传奇转向平凡,由变态转向常态;在戏剧结构上,也不再集中于几个人身上,而借鉴印象派绘画的散点技法,用片段的方法,用多少人生的零碎来阐明一个观念。”[1(]P.320)全剧集中在两个场景:高级大旅馆与三等妓院。主要人物由旅馆的各色“精英”人物、旅馆杂役与妓院的妓女等组成,故事开端于陈白露少年时代的朋友方达生来访,终结于白露自杀,方达生离去。在有限的时间与空间里,作者向我们展示了一幅幅令人惊心动魄的社会生活图景。
