Today's “History of the Relationship between Chinese and Western Culture” was constructed on the basis of the discipline of “Sino-Western Traffic History” in the 1920s and 1930s. In 1930, Mr. Xiang Da published the History of Traffic between China and the West in Zhonghua Book Company. Mr. Zhang Xingtao published the Compendium of Historical Materials on Chinese and Western Traffic at Fu Jen Catholic University, marking the establishment of the discipline of Sino-Western traffic history.
