The project aims to harness the floods of the North Poat Creek. The project is located near Copperhill on the southeast corner of Tennessee and about 160 km to Atlanta, Georgia. The project includes a 28-meter-high dam, a 0.9-meter diameter drainage pipe, an emergency spillway and a flood discharge tunnel with a diameter of 4 meters penetrating the hard rock area. The flood management system is part of the mine safety program for the Cherokee mine owned by Cities Service Co., part of the Cherokee orebody located in the lower part of the riverbed. This article describes the feasibility of the entire project research, design and construction.
