13世纪初,蒙古东征入侵高丽,战争断断续续持续了近半个世纪之久。1259年,高丽派太子代父至蒙古求和,蒙古接纳了高丽的请求。但是,蒙古并没有放弃东征高丽,只不过是将策略由武力解决转换为政治解决。1269年,高丽武臣发动政变,蒙古趁机派兵入驻高丽,迫其出陆还都,接受蒙古的支配。蒙古以驻军管控高丽,令丽蒙关系的发展走向发生了巨大变化。
In the early 13th century, the invasion of Korea by the Eastern Mongol invasion of Mongolia lasted for nearly half a century.
