本文是为“美国机床的任务和力量予计”(Machine Tool Task Force Project)提供的论文之一。会议于1980年10月16—17日在芝加哥召开。有122位机床工艺、管理和操作专家为之准备了2年。本文作者John D·Christopher为国际上金属切削方面有权威的美国金属切削研究协会(Metcut Research Association)的材料可加工性试验的主管人员。他对刀具材料切削性能的判断当可排除国外工具生产厂广告上的过份夸张,可以说是比较客观的。机床与刀具二者相互促进,每一种新刀具材料的出现都推动机床的发展。目前机床性能与各种刀具材料的切削性能间的匹配情况如何呢?本文作了较全面的分析。结论是:“要充分发挥目前刀具材料的性能,机床主轴转数要提高,攻率要增加3—4倍。刀具材料目前走在机床的前面”。
This article is one of the papers for the Machine Tool Task Force Project. The meeting was held in Chicago on October 16-17, 1980. There are 122 machine tool, management and operation experts prepared for 2 years. John D. Christopher, author of this paper, is the authoritative director of the material-machinability test for the internationally renowned Metcut Research Association for metal cutting. His judgment of the cutting performance of the cutting tool material can rule out excessive exaggeration in advertisements of foreign tooling factories, which can be said to be objective. Both machine tools and knives promote each other, each new tool material appears to promote the development of machine tools. What is the current match between the machine tool performance and the cutting performance of various tool materials? This article has made a more comprehensive analysis. The conclusion is: “To give full play to the performance of the current tool materials, machine tool spindle rotation to increase the attack rate to increase 3-4 times. Tool material is currently walking in front of the machine.”
