美国弹药局和坦克与车辆司令部(TACOM)联合开发了一种用改进的耗模铸造工艺(EPC)制造薄壁钢装甲板。这种装甲板可以用来加强Bradly战车炮塔后部的防护能力。用这种工艺制得的装甲板具有重量轻,弹道性能好的特点。而且成本比传统用轧、锻或机械加工制得的装甲板要低得多。
The U.S. Agency for Ammunitions and Tanks and Vehicles Command (TACOM) jointly developed a thin walled steel deck using an improved Die Casting Process (EPC). This armor can be used to enhance the protection of the rear of a Bradley tank turret. The armor plate made with this kind of process has the characteristics of light weight and good ballistic performance. And the cost is much lower than traditional armor plates made from rolling, forging or machining.
