This year marks the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War. Over the years, referring to how long the war of resistance against Japan was going on, people often responded to the “eight-year war”. This refers to the time when the all-out war broke out following the Lugouqiao Incident on July 7, 1937, and Japan unconditionally surrendered on August 15, 1945. This view so far has been universally accepted by all sectors of society as to the concept of resistance. Since the 1980s, the fourteen-year war of resistance has also emerged. Its core content is the starting point of the “September 18 Incident” on September 18, 1931, at Lake Wicker, Shenyang. This put the eight-year war of resistance further forward for six years and formed a fourteen-year war of resistance. This view has aroused widespread controversy in academia and is still inconclusive.
