This paper describes the principle of noise control in an easy-to-understand form and illustrates with examples. It includes the factors that influence the noise generation and the propagation characteristics of noise in materials, structures and rooms. First and foremost, it is to limit the sources of noise. When solving the noise problem, we must first consider: “What causes the noise?” The control techniques commonly used by people usually start with reducing the noise directly. However, most noise management technologies have their own limits and may not apply in all kinds of situations. There are many causes of noise, so a wide range of measurements must be taken before deciding what to do with it. It is often not enough to adopt only one method of governance. In most cases, several different measures need to be taken to achieve the goal of governance. To make the illustration easy to understand, the figure uses a few different symbols. E.g. Large arrows indicate high-intensity noise, small arrows indicate weaker noise, and curves indicate structural noise. Use special notations to describe specific issues when necessary.
