哨棚嘴遗址属于忠县(洽甘)井沟先秦遗址群中一个,地属重庆忠县忠州镇红星村五组,位于长江西北岸(洽甘)井沟口的右(南)侧的三角形台地上,属长江北岸的一级台地。在遗址东南土坎下为沙土坡地与长江边沙滩相连,西临忠州镇至石宝寨的公路,东北隔(洽甘)井沟与半边街遗址相望,西南有名为选溪沟的自然冲沟将其与瓦渣地遗址分隔(半边街遗址和瓦渣地遗址均属于(洽甘)井沟遗址群)(图一)。地理坐标为北纬30°18’7″,东经
