OBJECTIVE: To explore a more suitable method of umbilical vein cannulation for preterm low birth weight infants. Methods: In the process of umbilical vein catheterization for premature infants, the clinical methods were compared with those of the classic surgical suture. The clinical indexes such as catheter indwelling time and related complications were compared. Results: There was no difference between the classic method and the modified method in catheter indwelling time and average length of stay. There was no difference in the incidence of catheter-related complications between the two groups. Conclusion: The modified method of umbilical vein catheterization can fully guarantee the clinical treatment of premature infants, and the method of operation is simple, save time, and may reduce the complications caused by the operation, and easy to draw, with great clinical application value.
