The anti-border gene Bcl-2 can inhibit cell decline and promote cell proliferation, which is related to the occurrence of some tumors. The authors used immunohistochemical techniques to observe the expression of Bcl-2 gene products in 26 cases of oral mucosa-associated lymphomas to investigate the relationship between Bcl-2 expression and the tumor tissue type and immunophenotype. The results showed that in 26 cases of oral mucosa-associated lymphoma, Bcl-2 production was positive in 73% of cases. Among the three major tissue types, the highest positive rate of small-split cell-like lymphoma (83%) was followed by plasma cell-like lymphoma (71%) and plasma cell lymphoma (51%), with significant differences between them. (P<0.01). Of the 20 cases that could be immunophenotyped, the positive rates of Bcl-2 production in B-cell lymphomas, T-cell lymphomas, and unclassifiable lymphomas were 69%, 75%, and 83%, respectively (P<0.01). . The results suggest that the inhibition of the natural withering process may be one of the causes of some of the oral mucosa-associated lymphomas.
