Previous studies have shown that antiretroviral therapy can significantly improve the survival rate of people living with HIV, and for the first time the new study directly measures the impact of antiretroviral therapy programs on the life expectancy of a large number of people. The researchers compared data from a population control system in South Africa. These figures include more than 100,000 people in rural areas of KwaZulu-Natal from 2000 to 2011
