以系统功能语言学的情态隐喻理论为依据,以收集到的五篇英语学术书评为语料,探讨了英语学术书评中情态隐喻的使用情况,情态隐喻可以起到凸显主观性与客观性的作用,是配置情态意义的常用手段,了解情态隐喻的这一功能有利于读者更好的理解英语学术书评中的人际意义。
Based on the modal metaphor theory of system functional linguistics, the five English scholarly books collected are used as the corpus to explore the use of modal metaphors in English scholarly book reviews. The modal metaphor can play the role of subjectivity and objectivity. It is a common way to configure modality meaning. Understanding this function of modal metaphor is beneficial to readers’ understanding of interpersonal meaning in English academic book reviews.
