The “main hall” of the Tang Dynasty was not fixed and was undergoing a dynamic change. Two years before the Longshuo (662), the two ceremonial temples of Taiji officials and the Taiji temple played the role of “main hall” successively in different periods. Two years after the birth of Longshuo, the Xuanjheng Hall of the Daming Palace replaced the Taiji Temple and became the place where the Changchao and the Shuo Wangchao Dynasties met. After Emperor God’s first year (904) and Zhao Zong’s relocation of Luoyang, the Zhenguan Temple became the “main hall” of the Tang Dynasty. The emperor’s “avoidance of the main hall” was not a disregard of political affairs but through the temporary form of government, Senate with the government officials.
