A new type of fish positioning system using GPS and sounder has been put into operation recently to assist in the study of fish migration patterns. The system was developed jointly by Shimla and Icelandic companies and is supported by the Norwegian and Icelandic research councils. GPS Fish Positioning System is expected to make a significant contribution to the continued management of global fish stocks.
