The issue of bioethics is a primary concern of science, religion and traditional or indigenous knowledge. The local frame of reference, which the world can provide, is a reevaluation of the proper position of spirit, sacred things and (discussed in aboriginal cultural rituals) tabu (sacred) in ethical discourse. This article explores the possible implications of ethics in the Samoa native frame of reference. The two main concepts of Samoan Aboriginal culture, Taub and Tofasa’ili, are placed in the contemporary Samoan experience of ethics and Understand the scene of the investigation. If ethics explores ethical principles and values, then the two Samoan concepts provide the basis for ethnographic research in Samoa’s native context. The purpose of this paper is to provide a Samoan frame of reference for a deeper reflection on the universal norms of bioethical research and the nature of ethical research practices in the Pacific.
