1978年6月 9日,美国政府在美洲国家间国际商业仲裁公约上签了字。1980年12月1日,美洲国家间商业仲裁委员会迁到美国首都华盛顿美洲国家组织大厦办公。在罗纳德·里根总统执政之初,美国国务院就将美洲国家间国际商业仲裁公约呈送给这位总统,并建议他转交参议院征求意见和同意以便最后批准该公约。美国国务院还提出了修正美国法典第九编(仲裁)
On June 9, 1978, the U.S. government signed the Inter-American Convention on International Commercial Arbitration. On December 1, 1980, the Inter-American Commercial Arbitration Commission was relocated to the OAS office in Washington, the U.S. capital. At the very beginning of the administration of President Ronald Reagan, the U.S. State Department submitted to the president an international commercial arbitration agreement between the nations of the Americas, and suggested that he be referred to the Senate for comment and consent in order to finalize the convention. The U.S. State Department also proposed amending Part 9 of the U.S. Code (Arbitration)
