北京协和医院的前身是北京施医院,建于1861年。1906年建立协和医学堂,1921年绿色琉璃瓦屋顶的建筑群落成之后,成立了北京协和医院。现在说起北京协和医院的历史,一般都是说她建于1921年。 北京协和医院是一所综合性医院,是中国协和医科大学、中国医学科学院临床教学、研究生培训基地和临床医学研究所。被卫生部指定为全国疑难病症诊疗中心。占地8万m~2,工作用房12万m~2,现在还在扩建中。职工2300余人,正副教授和相应职称人员301人。目前开放病床数为950张,2000年底将达到1,200张。日门诊量3,500人次左右,1999年出院人数23,000余人次。北京协和医院也是中华医院管理学会病案管理专业委员会办公室所在地,现任全国病案管理专业委员会主任委员也是协和医院病案科现任主任。
