Background Over 80% of D-recipients receive D + blood for alloimmunization against the D antigen. Most AIDS patients develop anemia at some stage of their illness. D-AIDS patients may require blood transfusions and may receive D + RBCs in the event of blood shortness. They may develop alloimmunization against the D antigen.
