为了提高切削刀具的性能,通常从其材质、金相组织、硬度、刀具形状、夹持方式、使用机床、切削条件,尤其是从最佳切削性能等方面进行改进。此外,正确使用刀具的表面处理技术也是很有成效的方法之一。硬质合金刀具由于进行了涂层,在实际生产中创造了惊人的奇绩。近几年来,对于高速钢刀具,也根据各类刀具的特征,恰当地应用了涂层、氮化等表面处理技术,获得超乎予料的效果。本文仅就高速钢刀具表面处理的效果及此类刀具的特征作一些论述。
