1、2002年5月14日,中国林科院长江泽慧教授在中国林科院科信所所长李智勇关于申办《中国绿色画报》报告中批示同意创办《中国绿色画报》,同年6月24日,中国林科院科信所为加快筹备工作,由桂振华(微博)出任常务副社长并具体负责实施上报国家新闻出版总署审批工作。2、2002年10月28日,国家林业局司局函(科综合[2002]47号)根据国家新闻出版总署批复同意将1988年12月1日创刊的《竹类文谪》(中文版)更名为《中国绿色画报》,刊号由原国内刊号CN11-2633/S改为CN11-4973/S,原国际刊号ISSN1003-3270改为ISSN1672-2310.
