In the 1960s and 1970s, American Indian English literature entered Indian Renaissance. During this period, a group of outstanding Indian writers emerged and their works were widely noticed and recognized by the mainstream American society. These writers are committed to improving the living conditions of the Indian nation and discovering, inheriting and promoting the national culture. In their works, they reflect Indians’ identity crisis in contemporary society, seek identification with Indian identity, and express their strong desire to return to their ancestral lands and Indian traditions.
