我厂转炉生产的低碳镇静钢(部分为中碳钢),过去一直是利用普通粘土砖作为保温帽,虽然对缩孔和疏松有所改善,但钢锭热帽比较大(即热帽头与整个钢锭重量之比)一般达10％。 1965年以来进行了群众性的技术革新和技术革命运动,在发热帽试验的基础上,试制成功了煤渣绝热帽(以后简称煤渣帽),并在全厂单重550公斤,255×255×1200毫米锭型上推广应用。
