Sheridan Gordon Corp. commissioned the 3,000 ton / day Cu-Zn concentrator at Fox Mine in northern Manitoba, Canada in 1970. The plant is serving as a pilot plant and personnel training center for the 10,000 ton / day Lutan Lake (previously translated as Lake Ulatan) concentrator. Rutan concentrator in July 1973 will be fully operational. This article describes the Fox beneficiation plant and related production materials. In this respect, it is limited to reporting features common to newly constructed concentrators and some unique equipment at the Fox concentrator. The basis for the design change at Lutan Lake Concentrator is introduced based on the experience of Fox Concentrator and the open pit mining for the initial production. The Rutan Lake concentrator features ore pre-thawing of the ore into the coarse ore mines with the addition of automation measures including twin-cyclones and single-tank floats in all crushers equipped with “seticator” grinding circuits Selector, second stage hydrocyclone feed pump hydraulic drive, automatic particle size analyzer and the Courier 300 continuous analyzer for data processing.
