王鼎(字定九,号省崖)祖籍陕西蒲城,嘉庆元年进士,是一位历经三代(乾隆、嘉庆、道光)、功德巍巍的两朝(嘉庆、道光)重臣。他一生中最为光彩、并被后人广为传诵的则是他和林则徐之间肝胆相照的友谊,特别是尸谏林则徐的悲壮之举。陕西省渭南地区秦腔剧团最近晋京演出的《王鼎尸谏林则徐》(张自胜编剧,史美强导演),就是以这段史实作为素材而编演的一出发人深省的好戏。
