中山大学地理系教授吴尚时是我国著名地理学家,专长地形学、水文地理学,重视地理实察与地图分析结合,科学研究上艰苦卓绝,不避险阻,尊重事实,立论精辟;论著坚持地理学正确方向,贯彻地理综合性,区域性和结合生产目的性,在地形学上,水文学上有显著成就:一、广州市南郊七星岗海蚀遗迹的发现,珠江三角洲存在的论证,广州市东南部三级台地及广州市北部山地三级侵蚀面的发现;二、提出广州市东濠整治计划的水文地理学根据,提出北江、西江中游峡谷生成与甘竹滩炸滩
Wu Shangshi, a professor of geography at Sun Yat-sen University, is a famous geographer in China specializing in terrain and hydrogeography. He emphasized the combination of geophysical observation and map analysis. His research on archeology was arduous and arduous.
