According to the report of the Institute of Geology of Japan Institute of Technology in 1982, tantalum (calculated as Ta2O5) has a reserve of 144 million pounds in deposits such as tantalite and niobite. In other types of deposits, tantalum has a world reserve of 420 million pounds and both reserves total 560 million pounds.
