2007年,前身重庆客车总厂的恒通客车有限公司企业净资产达到3.8亿元,年销售收入6.8亿元,实现利税9488万元,年产客车规模达10000辆。相比濒临倒闭的1997年前。恒通客车在邓平总经理的领导下,净资产增长了20倍,年销售收入增长了18倍,客车产销量增长了9倍,实现了跨越式的发展。骄人的成绩使邓平总经理在中国汽车报主办的“中国汽车高端人才发展研讨会暨2008年度中国汽车全明星阵容评选颁奖典礼”上,荣获了“08年度最具成长性企业总裁”称号。
