《民报》为中国同盟会的机关报、中国资产阶级革命派最著名的刊物。创刊于一九○五年十一月。编印发行于日本东京。初为月刊,后改为不定期刊。共出版了二十六号(期),附《天讨》增刊一册,《号外》一张。以刊载政论文章为主,分为论说、时评、译丛、谈丛、纪事、撰录等栏目。稿件大多由本社成员撰写或编译,偶尔也刊载一些来稿。最初五期主编为张继,实际主其事者为胡汉民。主要撰稿人有陈天华、汪精卫、朱执信、廖仲恺及宋教仁等。自第六期起,由章炳麟主编。有几期因章生病,由张继、陶成章主编。出至第二十四期(一九○八年十月),被清政府通过日本政府下令禁止。一九一○年二 “People’s Daily” is the organ of the China League, the most famous publication of the Chinese bourgeois revolutionaries.
