Mérieux菌株源于1077株,1991年 10月得到世界卫生组织（WHO）批准,新Mérieux卡介苗（BCG）配方为每0.1ml含0.8 × 10~6～3.2×10~6个活菌数。为验证此Mérieux BCG,作者在塞内加尔进行校准研究,就其安全性和免疫原性与全剂量及1/10剂量的WHO参考BCG（东京172株）作了比较。
The Mérieux strain is derived from 1077 strains and was approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) in October 1991. The new Mérieux BCG formula contains 0.8 × 10 6 to 3.2 × 10 6 viable cells per 0.1 ml. To validate this Mérieux BCG, the authors performed a calibration study in Senegal to compare their safety and immunogenicity with the full-dose and 1/10 dose WHO reference BCG (Tokyo 172).
