2009年7月11日,农历闰五月十九,是中国学术界的哀悼日。这一天,任继愈先生和季羡林先生,一前一后离开了我们。任公逝于4时30分,季老逝于8时50分。两位老人去了,带走自己的满腹经纶和社会的一片唏嘘。掩埋在老人心中的沧桑历史,彰显在老人身上的才德情智,却留给了这个时代,让眼下萧条与惨淡的学术界有所警示和反省。文化有价,文化更无价。对两位文化老人,我们惟有怀念;对于传统文化,对于士子风骨,对于逝者身上的宝贵精神财富,我们还有更多、更紧迫、更重要的事情要去做。那些被季老“环顾左右,大有人在”的学问人,以及季老不知、未顾的有心人,也还会守住一份执着,将这份文化薪火相传下去……
