北京农业大学一级教授、全国第二届至第六届政协委员、中国科学院学部委员、国内外著名的土壤学家和教育家李连捷先生因病医治无效,于1992年1月11日8时在北京不幸逝世,享年84岁.李连捷教授1908年6月17日出生于河北省玉田县的一个农民家庭.1932年毕业于燕京大学理学院地质地理系,后受聘于中央地质调查所任调查员.1940年获中华文化基金奖,并被派往美国考察水土保持工作,继而先后就读于美国田纳西大学农学研究院、伊利诺大学农学研究院,获得硕士和博士学位.1944年被聘为美国地质
