China is rapidly growing at an annual rate of 7% of GNP. In the next few years, the demand for scrap metal in China will continue to grow. Last November, hundreds of domestic and foreign waste experts gathered in Guangzhou to discuss the import, export and processing of non-ferrous and ferrous metals in China. After the meeting, some foreign media reported on the forum. MANFRECL BECK was published in the journal RECYCLING INTERNA TIONAL in Issue 10, 2003. In this article, the author gives a brief introduction to some important points in the forum. Although the author of the paper is not deep enough to understand the situation of China’s scrap metal industry, and some of the important reports in these forums are not extensively covered. However, the article brings some important information to foreign counterparts that China has already Becoming the largest consumer of scrap metal in the world. The Chinese government is gradually standardizing the management of the available raw materials, including scrap metal, and China has a huge demand for scrap metal resources. The editorial work of this article is published in this issue. What we want to make clear here is that while China is paying attention to the world, the world is also paying attention to China. --editor
