The 1:12 series of keggin structures and the 2:18 series Dawson structure heteropolyacids (salts) and their derivatives are useful as chlorinated, acid, or bifunctional catalysts. As a multi-electron oxidant, its oxidizability can be tuned by changing the structure, central atom, or coordination atom.
