Georg Lukács (György Lukács, 1885-1971, or translation of Lukacs) is a Hungarian well-known Western Marxist theorist. This essay is the preface to the “European Realism Study,” with abridged entries. In his essay, Lukacs first set out from the historical philosophy of Marxism, emphasized that literature should restore the complete personality of the people, then pointed out that only great realistic literature can take on this task. Finally, after analyzing separately the representative figures of France and Russia’s realism, Zach and Tolstoy, based on the earnest expectations of realist literature and writers. Of course, Lucca
