中国人民大学出版社2016年6月版本书考察了美国社会的公共价值观转变以及美国背离民主走向市场的教育模式。书中讨论了公共教育作为民主的公共空间的理想遭受的围攻,鼓励教育家成为投身于创建构成性学习文化的公共知识分子,培养人们捍卫作为普遍的公共利益的公立教育和高等教育的能力。
The June 2016 edition of Renmin University Press examines the changes in public values in American society and the educational model that the United States deviates from democracy to the market. The book discusses the siege of public education as an ideal of a democratic public space and encourages educators to become public intellectuals engaged in creating a structured learning culture and to cultivate people’s capacity to defend public education and higher education as universal public interests.
