The Saskatchewan Basin, located in Coorawag, northern Mexico, has a gas-rich Rose Almosh coalfield. There are 5 well longwall face mines where the Montorova Mineral Company Ltd mines. Due to its high gas content, high cleavage and primary fracture permeability, Monroeval Minerals Limited had to use an off-the-shelf CBM extraction system in order to be able to safely and economically mine coal. In the early 1990s, resource conglomerates conducted gas reservoir characterization tests, numerical simulations, and CBM gas production tests in the immediate vicinity of the same basin. Using this information, Resource Enterprise Group, in consultation with Monorail Minerals Ltd., recommends the promotion and application of a CBM drainage system in the entire mining area, which includes directional long holes in coal seams. According to the contract, the resource enterprise group is responsible for the drilling construction. At present, the drilling of coal seams above 26,000m has been completed before the roadway digging, greatly reducing the CBM content. This paper details the basic situation of the popularization and application of CBM drainage system in the Minera Minerals Co., Ltd. mine and the impact of applying this system on the mining area production over the past six years. The paper mainly analyzes the influence of drainage system on coalbed methane emission, coal production and required ventilation in the working face. At the same time, some experiences gained by CBM gas drainage designers during the promotion of CBM drainage system are also introduced. The paper gives the actual production data of CBM, the measured value of CBM emission, the speed of roadway driving and the amount of gas released from the mine.
