The silkworm god is an ancient Chinese custom. The use of “sacrifice” to represent a kind of commemoration is a form of spiritual sustenance that is commonly used in ancient China. It is held every August. Since the beginning of the Zhou Dynasty, it has been inherited and developed from generation to generation. Officials and people have paid great attention to it. At the official level, the queen and the ladies of all levels of local officials presided over the occasion. In the Qing Dynasty, emperors and the chief executives at all levels also presided over the ceremony. This shows that the past dynasties have attached importance to the sericulture industry. The folk ritual activities are mainly in the sericulture area in Zhejiang Province, and are usually held when silkworms have passed three sleeps and the harvest is a foregone conclusion. The purpose of offering silkworm gods is naturally a festive silk harvest, praising the merits of silkworms.
