The United Kingdom Pharmacopoeia statutory tablet disintegration is limited to tablets that disintegrate in water to pass through a 10 mesh sieve. This may be a misleading guideline, especially for less soluble tablets that speed up dissolution when using smaller particles. The authors tested several tablets of sulfadiazine-corn starch and determined the distribution of the size of the tablet after disintegration using a wet sieving method and a particle counting method. Sulfadiazine tablets with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as a binder, the starch is divided into the internal plus (into the particles) and plus two cases, without lubricant. The tablets are then tableted at the appropriate pressure and the hardness of the tablets is determined. The experiment is divided into three steps: (1) measuring the disintegration time; (2) using the wet sieving method, the disintegrated suspension is sieved through 10 sieves with different diameters (12 meshes to 200 meshes)
