Foreword The research data of several countries show that the doctor’s total mortality is lower than the general population. In Western countries, doctors have high social status and education, and their economic income is also above average. They are upper strata of socioeconomic status, so the mortality rate is low. However, this comparison has not revealed the effect of occupational factors on the health of doctors, especially whether their professional knowledge and skills are beneficial to their mortality. To this end, we compared the mortality rates of doctors and socio-economic and cultural levels in the 1970s with their similar occupational groups. The comparison included all Finns in each occupation group who lived in Finland.
