切诺基作为中国汽车行业的第一个中外合资企业生产的第一个引进车型,也是民族汽车工业发展史上的一个里程碑。它不仅结束了我国轻型越野车20年一贯制的历史,也标志着中国汽车制造技术开始步入现代化。千里姻缘一线牵1979年元旦,中国与美国正式建立了外交关系。这年春天,一架飞机从美国飞越太平洋,降落在北京首都机场,下来的乘客里有五位肩负特殊使命的人物,他们是美国汽车公司的副总裁克莱尔一行,其中有—位美籍华人叫沈坚白,他是美国汽车公司聘请的高级访华顾问。
Cherokee, as the first automobile model introduced by Chinese-foreign joint ventures in China’s automobile industry, is also a milestone in the history of the national automobile industry. It not only ended the 20-year history of China’s SUVs, but also marked the beginning of the modernization of China’s automobile manufacturing technology. This past spring, a plane flying over the Pacific from the United States landed at Beijing Capital International Airport with five specially shouldered mission-minded people: Claire, the vice president of the U.S. auto company, and a group of Chinese Americans Shen Jianbai, a senior visiting consultant hired by a U.S. auto company.
