The “Sunan model” is a theoretical summary by theorists and press about the characteristics and experience of economic development in southern Jiangsu and also a type of regional economic and social development. Over the past few years, the discussion on the “southern Jiangsu model” has never stopped. In recent years, as the reform of the property rights system for township and town enterprises has started, the argument is even more intense. One view is that Sunan is a model area for socialism with Chinese characteristics. The Sunan model is the successful practice of Deng Xiaoping Theory in the southern part of Jiangsu Province, while the other point of view gives different opinions.
