黄鹤楼、岳阳楼、滕王阁,盛名天下。俗以“江南三名楼”称之。“江南”是否仅意指三楼均在长江之南?名楼天下有,非独处江南,但却不见有“江北”几大名楼说法。故这“江南”二字已超出寻常地域意指,含更多文化内蕴。是怎样的文化内蕴?自然,最明显不过当是:说到岳阳楼,即想到范文正公《岳阳楼》记;谈到滕王阁,必要讲到才子王勃《滕王阁序》;至于提起黄鹤楼,那就更会有一篇一篇脍炙人口的诗词随之脱口:
