花朵蔷薇型或绣球型。由法国人通过中国野生黄牡丹与中原牡丹杂交育出。其花瓣黄色边缘带红色;花瓣边缘波浪形,瓣数多而密集、排列不规整,雄蕊有时瓣化成花瓣,美丽而奇特。‘金阁’株型直立,中高,生长快,一年生枝长,节间亦长,复叶为大型长叶,全长30cm以上,叶片稀疏,新叶红色。花梗长而柔软中空,花朵下垂,成花率一般,花期晚,武汉花期在4月中旬。其基部不易形成萌芽,分枝差,繁殖以嫁接为主。养护管理既要保证足够的光照,还要防曝晒。
