初中三年级动物学讲完了鸟类的外形和内部构造以后,根据教学大綱的要求需要以家鸽作鸟类的代表叫学生作外形的观察和解剖并观察内部各器官的实验。我校初中三年级有六个班,每班分十个组就需要家鸽六十只,我校虽养着几只家鸽,但离这个数目相差很远,买也买不到,同时也很不经济,如果一只家鸽二角五分钱,六十只就需要人民币十五元,后来我们就想到了以害鸟麻雀来代替家鸽,经过预先试验的结果,以麻雀作观察解剖虽不如家鸽好,但实验的目的和要求是达到了,因此我们就发动学生捕捉麻雀(除说明实验的需要外并说明麻雀是害鸟消灭它对发展农业生产有重要意义)结果每班学生都捉了十只麻
