Dear Editor,rnNaturally,both consensual and idiosyncratic experiences are formed when we watch a movie.What are the neural mechanisms underlying the formation of these experi-ences?Abundant fMRI studies on watching movies have demonstrated consensual brain responses across individu-als.For example,inter-subject synchronization of cortical activity was found when participants watched the same movie[1].Remarkably,coherent responses were also found between participants telling a story and participants listening to this story,suggesting shared high-level cogni-tion beyond sensory processing[2].Meanwhile,individual differences are often evident and cannot be overlooked.For example,previous studies found significant individual differences in functional connectivity during naturalistic viewing[3].Taken together,these results suggest both a consensual and an idiosyncratic cortical organization.However,few studies have compared the forming and re-forming of consensual versus idiosyncratic behavioral experiences through presumably different individual brains.
