Objective To investigate the effects of tamoxifen and letrozole on the blood lipid metabolism in postmenopausal women with breast cancer. Methods Seventy patients with postmenopausal breast cancer treated in Dalian Central Hospital from January 2015 to January 2017 were enrolled in this study. According to random number table, they were divided into control group (n = 34) and observation group (n = 36) . Patients in the control group were treated with letrozole orally, while patients in the observation group were treated with oral tamoxifen. The changes of blood lipid and endometrial thickness before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment for 12 months and 2 years, the levels of TC and LDL-C in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group, and the levels of TG and HDL-C in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (all P <0.05) ; After treatment for 12 months and 2 years, the endometrial thickness of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (all P <0.05); after 12 months and 2 years of treatment, the uterus of the control group Endometrial thickness was significantly lower than before treatment, observation group, endometrial thickness was significantly higher than before treatment, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). Conclusion Tamoxifen can significantly improve blood lipid metabolism in patients with postmenopausal breast cancer, letrozole can effectively reduce the thickness of the endometrium in patients with no significant effect on the level of lipid metabolism.
